Dogs Trust Grass allergy dog finally gets to run on snow covered grass
Snow may be causing havoc across much of the country but one special homeless hound has been desperately waiting for the fist flake of snow to fall all winter. Eight –year-old Labrador cross Buster, a four legged resident at Dogs Trust Darlington was diagnosed with a grass allergy two years ago which means he is unable to set foot on grass but luckily the snow provides a layer of protection for Buster’s paws so he is able to bound around in the snow to his heart’s content. Despite making the most of his time frolicking
Shelley loves going for long walks, where she can get to explore all the interesting smells. She loves to play fetch and football and always has a toy in her mouth. Shelley really enjoys trips out in the car, especially if she might get a splash in the water or swim. Shelley is house trained and happy at home alone for a few hours with a tasty treat to keep her occupied. She is an intelligent, fun and friendly girl who would suit an active adult home. Rocco is a fun loving five year old Border Collie who loves to play. He is worried by strangers and dogs but has slowly been building up his confidence at the centre and has met a few dogs that accompany him on his walks. Rocco would enjoy walks in the countryside and needs an adult only home as he would prefer to be the only pet. Rocco is a real water baby and even has a pool in his kennel in the summer! He misses the water so much in winter that he'll head straight for a dip in the river when out on walks.

Dogs Trust West Calder has seen a sharp increase in stray and abandoned Collies and Collie crosses across the region as the working breed now amounts to one in five of all dogs taken in by the Scottish rehoming centre. Dogs Trust would like to urge anyone considering a dog to think carefully about their chosen breed, ensuring it is best suited to their lifestyle.

Rehoming centre to host first ever Burns Night
Dogs Trust Shrewsbury is inviting local dog lovers to the centre for its first ever Burns Night. The traditional celebration, in honour of Scottish poet Robert Burns, will be held at the rehoming centre in Roden Lane Farm on Saturday 26th January at 6.30pm. Guests on the night can expect a light Burns supper, the traditional “address to the haggis” and authentic Scottish folk music and dancing, all in aid of for the four-legged friends at the centre.

West End star and Dogs Trust supporter, Jodie Prenger, visited a St Mungo’s hostel today to hand out the first of 850 Dogs Trust Christmas Hampers being given to the dogs of homeless people and those in temporary accommodation across the UK. Receiving one of the hampers today was Sam the Samoyed, belonging to Michael Lyon, a current resident at a St Mungo’s hostel in Covent Garden.

We all know ‘A Dog is for Life, Not Just for Christmas’, but it seems that many existing dog owners are finding the most bizarre reasons to dump their dogs. From not matching the sofa, to wanting to exchange it for a smaller one, sadly Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, today reveals that dogs of all shapes and sizes are being handed in apparently just for being dogs.

On Tuesday 11th December, Clarissa Baldwin CEO of the UK’s largest dog welfare charity Dogs Trust met with Lord De Mauley, newly appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary for DEFRA, to urge people to think carefully before purchasing a puppy as a gift this Christmas.
