Three year old Border Terrier Rufus lives with a German Shepherd and a Golden Retriever, with whom he loves to play in their large garden. He prefers to get some off lead running on walks, and relishes being out in grass having a good sniff around. He likes most food, but can be fussy about dog food. He’s easy going to live with.
Ross is a nine year old Tervuren Belgian Shepherd. He relishes his one and a half hour walk each morning, where he expend some of his energy. He has been taking part in the Safe and Sound displays for the last five years. He’s also participated in other canine disciplines such as showing and obedience.
Phoenix is a Curly-Coated Retriever who is five years old. She has been with owner Charlotte since she was two. She loves her walks in woods which she gets twice a day Squeaky toys are her favourite and she will eat anything but especially loves cheese.
Marley is a two year old black Labrador, who lives very happily with another black Lab. He is apparently wonderful and very easy to live with, having a fantastic character. He loves to walk in the woods especially if he’s off lead and chasing a tennis ball, which he prefers to treats!
Dylis is a German Wirehaired Pointer, who is almost three years old. She likes walking anywhere where there’s the scent of rabbits and pheasants, and she can get some off lead running. She has a variety of toys but will play will anything as long as owner Helen’s joining in the fun. She’s partial to a bit of sausage.
Bertie is a real mix of breeds, but is most like a Border Collie in character, being a high energy dog. He likes to walk in the country, where he can have a good run. He loves to play with a ball or anything he can retrieve. He loves home cooked food best. He passed his Gold Good Citizen award at ten months.
I love this photo of Buddy and some of the Safe and Sound team in the main arena at Crufts 2010. He had to stay in the car while the children moved around him and the commentator warned the audience about the dangers of teasing dogs in cars. Although he did in deed stay in the car, he longed to get out and join in the fun, and he kept flashing me that reproachful expression, clearly asking, "Can I go and play now?"
It was great fun and a wonderful message to help publicise.
Take care,
Julie x
Buddy (Labrador) and Phoenix (Curly Coated Retriever) in a car at Crufts. Buddy's checking with me that he still can't get out and play with the children!

Life has been very busy the last few weeks, and one of the things keeping Buddy and me busy has been rehearsing with the Safe and Sound team, getting ready for Crufts. Safe and Sound is an excellent scheme run by the Kennel Club to promote the correct and safe way to behave around dogs. We will part of the Safe and Sound displays in the main arena at Crufts on the Saturday and Sunday of the show.
