Charity acknowledges commitment to tackling dog-related issues but slams recommendations to extend breed specific legislation
Dog law delays are unacceptable claim RSPCA

Defra made an announcement on Monday that they are changing and extending the Dangerous Dogs Act, and they are also asking for input on the compulsory microchipping of dogs. If you are passionate in favour of mandatory chipping, or if you are staunchly opposed to it, Defra want to hear from you. Visit the Defra website to find out how you can have your say. The consultation period will end on 15th June 2012, so don't miss out.

Sometimes you come across a story that makes your blood run cold, and the one below did just that to me. This is an appalling case, and is a shocking example of the scant regard some people hold dogs in, as well as an owner's love for her dog. It's bad enough to lose a dog however it happens, but it was in a possibly avoidable way, it's ten times as bad. I wish Melanie Hawes and her family lots of strength as they try to come to terms with the loss of Sam in these horrible circumstances.
