The National Dog Show sponsored by Purina will be televised on Thanksgiving Afternoon, and is fast becoming a holiday tradition. Co-host David Frei tells us what viewers can expect to see.
Lady Margaret Flack, together with the Kennel Club and Our Dogs, is mounting a campaign to try to put an end to puppy farming, dog smuggling, dog dealing and dogs being sold in pet shops.
The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is now recognised by the UK Kennel Club. Host Julie talks to Kimberley MacDonald, the woman who brought the Swissies to Britain, worked to have them recognised by the Kennel Club, and is now setting up a breed club.

These are my two puppies cleo and henry, they are both about 1 year old, henry(the ruby) is a bit older than cleo(the tri)
I love them both so much, they are the best dog breed in the world!

Dogs, teeth, and trouble

They say politics is a dog eat dog business, but for President Bush’s dog Barney, it became a dog eat reporter affair.

You can see what happened on You Tube (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BQOG969hElQ&feature=related) when the Scottish Terrier decided he had had enough press attention. I don’t know about you, but when I watch that video what I see is a dog clearly giving off, “Don’t come near me signals.” The reporter ignored these at his peril.

Nanook is a Full Bred Akita. She's 4 yrs old. She's a miracle dog because she got kennel cough at 10 weeks old, 2 weeks after we bought her. The vets all said she would die because it turned to pneumonia and she was very sick. I brought her back home and spent weeks giving her alot of love, anitbiotics, etc. and as you can see she's very happy and healthy!
She goes EVERYWHERE with me and has since day one!

And you are?

I recently met my young niece’s boyfriend for the first time. I felt protective and wanted to establish that this young man was a suitable escort for my niece, but I didn’t want to come over as heavy handed and intrusive. What conversation could I have with him to set my mind at rest? What question should I ask to gain the measure of his character?
And then it came to me in a moment of inspiration.

“So,” I asked, “are you a dog person or a cat person?”

Dogs aren't Christmas presents

It may seem as familiar as the nativity at Christmas, but it’s time for a reminder about puppies and Christmas. Don’t buy a puppy as a Christmas present. Apart from anything else, Christmas is far too busy a time for most of us to devote the necessary attention to a new dog. The comings and goings will make it impossible for them to bond with their new pack and settle into a new home.
