Usually, if your dog goes missing in your garden, it doesn’t take you too long to find him, but when you’re royal it’s a bit more complicated. Bigger garden for a start.
This is my Basil, I have had him for 4 years, he is 5.
He is sneaky and trys to steal the stuffed toys from around the house, he loves cuddles and kisses.
Basil is constantly sniffing, and drooling!
I love him.
The British Kennel Club has come in for a real mauling recently, and consequently more and more organisations have bailed out of Crufts 2009. I think the real question here is not can we live with the Kennel Club, but more can we live without it?
Emma tells how Alfie came to live with her. He was a young Golden Retriever puppy with a serious heart condition. He would need very expensive treatment, and might not even survive.

Although Alfie is just 9 months old, his story is already a long and amazing one.
Alfie is a Golden Retriever, born on 15th March 2008, one of a litter of 13 puppies. He reached 8 weeks and went off to a new family just like his littermates.
But Alfie was different. He was small and sickly. A trip to the vets discovered that Alfie had a heart condition, and he was referred to the University of Liverpool's Small Animal Cardiology Department. Here it was found that Alfie had a very complicated condition, one that require further investigation and maybe even surgery.
I met and interviewed Dr. Roger Mugford at his Train and Behave Week. He’s a real character who’s lots of fun and not afraid to speak his mind. He’s also passionately committed to dogs; his own and those whose owners appeal to him for training or legal help. He is extremely likeable in person.
Roger invented the Halti, and sells many variations on a Kong theme. You can find his website at www.companyofanimals.co.uk
Here’s some thoughts from Roger about Crufts and the contribution of showing to the development of dogs:
Alfie developed a serious heart condition as a young puppy, and was rescued by Emma Foxall. You can read his full story and keep up to date with his adventures at Emma's blog http://alfiesheart.co.uk/

Sometimes you encounter a person who restores your faith in human nature, and Emma Foxall is such a person. She is the woman who heard about a Golden Retriever puppy with a heart condition. His name was Alfie, and his owners knew they couldn’t meet the costs of his treatment, and advertised him on the Internet. Emma knew she had to help him, and she did.
