No Walks? No Worries!

10 - 25% of dogs will suffer some form of musculoskeletal illness or injury in their lifetime; there is a good chance your dog is going to need to spend some time on restricted activity.

It can be an incredibly worrying time when you're told that your dog needs crate rest. There can be many reasons why your dog might need to be on restricted exercise, and it's natural to be apprehensive about how your dog - and you - will cope with such a change of routine. Sian Ryan is a trainer and behaviourist who owns and runs the  Developing Dogs Training, Education and Activity Centre. She found that some dogs can have emotional issues which persist after the original condition or injury which necessitated crate rest, so she set about informing owners on how to get through the experience.

You can read her comprehensive advice in the book No Walks? No Worries! and in this interview you can listen to some of her advice. It doesn't matter if you have a lively dog, an older dog, a nervous dog or a gregarious dog, Sian has advice on how you can take the stress, worry and boredom out of crate rest. Her experience and knowledge can help you and your dog, - and you need to get started now, well before your dog might need crate rest. To find out more about Sian or to contact her, visit the No Walks? No Worries Facebook page.

Pets and the Afterlife

There's a lot of different levels of intelligence that plays into the way a dog can communicate from the other side to humans that are still alive on this side.

Rob Gutro had since childhood been able to receive messages from those who've passed over, both human and animal. A medium who refers to himself as a "medium rare", Rob talks with great humour as well as honesty about his experiences. In this interview you can hear Rob discussing his book Pets and the Afterlife , and what lead to him writing it.

Rob is passionate about rescue and charity, spending much of his spare time volunteering. Here he talks about how his own dogs, Buzz and Sprite, have contacted him from beyond the grave, as well as some of the fascinating stories he's collected from other people. And if you've ever wondered about the difference between a spirit and a ghost, listen up for Rob's definition - and Rob would love to hear any stories you have of  interaction with either. You can find out more about Rob at his Ghosts and Spirits Insights blog, as well as his Ghosts
and Spirits Insights Facebook
page, and his Author Medium Facebook page. If you prefer Twitter, tweet Rob at @GhostMediumBook, and you can also find Pets and the Afterlife on Amazon.
