Sadie and the rattlesnake

Sadie was playing in the stream, jumping in the water and running across the rocks and then out of the corner of my eye I saw her swinging a rattlesnake. I knew immediately it was a rattlesnake because I could see the fangs and the blood in its mouth.

In this show you can hear an interview with Lindsay Morris in which she tells the incredible story of her dog Sadie who had a very unfortunate - and unusual - encounter with a rattlesnake.

While on a camping weekend miles from anywhere, Sadie got bitten by a rattlesnake, and Lindsay and her husband Matt faced a difficult and agonisingly slow hike to get her to help. When they finally got her to a vet her treatment could begin - but there was no guarantee that a dog who had been through what poor Sadie had been through would even survive. Lindsay and Matt never gave up on the dog they love, and are now keem to raise awareness of the need to take care.

You can find out more about Sadie at her blog and at her Facebook page.

Dogs on beds

My dogs sleep in the bedroom, they always have. They can't sleep on the bed because I'd need two beds, but I have no issue with them being in the bedroom.

My dogs sleep downstairs in the utility room, and they are happy down there, and we are happy upstairs in a room with the bed to ourselves.
