The Power of Wagging Tails

When a dog is interacting with people, there is more than just the simple, 'Oh he's very cute and I gave him a little pat.' There really is a lot of physiology going on behind that.

 - Dawn Marcus

Dawn Marcus us the author of an inspiring new book called The Power of Wagging Tails, which examines how beneficial dogs are for us.

The book does this largely by focusing on stories from handlers of therapy dogs, and it highlight just how many areas dogs can help humans with - physical, mental, psychiatric, speech therapy. The book is full of examples of the incredibly effect of a dog - the almost magic power of a wagging tail.

Dawn is a doctor and has two therapy dogs of her own, so she offers not only great insight into what therapy dogs do, but also has highly useful practical tips for those wishing to become involved too. In this interview you can hear touching true life stories of how dogs have changed and enhanced lives.

You can find out more about Dawn at her website, as well as on Facebook and Twitter, and The Power of Wagging Tails is available to buy now.

You can find out more about the Greyhound walks at the Great British Greyhound Walk website.

Dyson DC25 animal vacuum review

Host Julie presents her reviews of the Dyson DC25 animal vacuum and the groom tool.

With two dogs and three cats in the house, she has put the vacuum through its paces, giving it a thorough testing - and it's passed with flying colours.

The most interesting part of the system for dog owners may well be the groom tool as this enables owners to vacuum loose hair directly from the dog before it is shed to waft around the house. You can hear how Buddy coped with the groom tool and more in this review.
