Training and intelligence
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel wants to please. They are generally easy dogs to train, as they are clever and biddable. Cavaliers are naturally clean, which makes housetraining easier.
Temperament
Cavlier King Charles Spaniels are renown for being excellent and close companions for children. However, do make sure that children are gentle with this small dog, especially if you bring the dog in as a puppy. Cavaliers can be very active, although they are cuddly too, and relish curling up on your lap.
Attitude towards strange dogs and people
Although they are very peaceful dogs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels will probably bark to alert you to the fact that someone in approaching the house. They view everyone as a friend, and are not a problem with strange people or dogs. They can however have a tendency to shyness, so socialisation is necessary.
Grooming and shedding
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's coat can tangle, so at least weekly grooming and combing is necessary. They do shed, although brushing and bathing will help decrease shedding around the house.
Exercise
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are playful, active dogs. They can build up to considerable exercise gradually.
Need for company
Separation anxiety can be a problem with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. They bond very closely with their family, and want to be with them as much as possible, and if possible in contact with them.
General
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are versatile dogs - they are active enough to make excellent playmates for children, yet gentle enough to happily keep older, more sedentary people company. Their friendly outlook and portable size makes them a popular choice as a family pet.

Our Cavvie is the perfect
Our Cavvie is the perfect pet except for one big fault, and this is that if we let him off the lead he won't come when called as he's too busy having a lovely time sniffing at everything. It is annoying to have to backtrack to get him and then put him back on the lead, when we'd love to see him run free and have a great time like other dogs.
I have a 5yr old blenheim
I have a 5yr old blenheim cavalier who is the most perfect, loving dog you could want (a fury angel!) One big problem though, mitral valve disease is going to cut short his life - will be very lucky to see his 6th birthday the way things are going. (Health certificates were seen from his breeder). For this and other health reasons related to this breed I would not get another one. I actually am beginning to wonder about the ethics of breeding these dogs that have such devastating genetic health problems. These terrible health problems couldn't happen to a nicer breed of dog. So very sad.
I have a caveleir king
I have a caveleir king charles spaniel. They are gorgeos and they make great family dogs
I love this breed there friendly, clever, sensative but so playful and great companions to anyone!
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are so cute!!!!!!!!!
I have a cavalier king charles spaniel he is the most loving and fun dog we have ever had . he is definatly one of the family now.
We have a black and tan Cavalier, and although I grew up a complete cat person, this dog has changed my entire perspective. She is the sweetest, most loving animal I have ever encountered. She is not the smartest creature out there, but she has learned 'sit,' 'fetch,' 'come,' 'stay,' and 'speak.' She's at the door waiting for you every time you enter, and she wants nothing more than to be touching or cuddling you at all times. Well, WELL worth the price tag!
my family and i have 2 cavalier king charles spainiels and they are the best dogs you could get but they are a little over weight does any one no a good size wait 4 a dog?

I would love to get a cavalier king charles spainiel as they are not two big but i also go on some holidays and enjoy sailing. Their health problems seem to go on for ever. Could anyone give me some advice. I love this type of dog.
Two at my feet at the moment. I love an active, sporty dog, but as a single woman, pledge to keep breeds that I can carry home from trail walks or load into the car myself if we ever have an emergency. These little guys are an incredible hybrid of sporty fun in a small package. They will jump in a creek in one minute and lay on a pillow (after a bath) in the next. Never met man nor beast who is not completely charmed by the Cavalier!
I have always wanted a cavalier. I finally got one and he is the sweetest dog ever!
my little cavalier king charles, Tasha Daisy Donna Cocoa Cherry Blossom Sweet Pea Petunia Godiva, is the cutest on the planet!!!!!!!!!! she is sooo smart and cuddly, she loves everybody! she is soooooooooooo cute and has a perfect face and markings! i have never seen a dog quite like her before, she is amazing! she is so loveable and always has to be beside you!i think that cavaliers rule and i would never buy another breed of dog!!!! she would never hurt anybody and has never bit!!! I LOVE MY LITTLE BABY SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!
I have a 10 month old blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and when I first got him he didn't go on a pad that well so we switched to walking him twice a day and it is great. Often we go to the dog run in battery park or madsion square park and have a great time. I suggest that you brush twice or three times a week because once I brushed his hair on monday and when I was going to brush him on saturday he had a big knot on the back of his ear and it was really close to his skin so now I have to ask a vet to cut it. He is a wonderful dog though. Smart, playful and my best pal.
I recently posted about my Cavalier who is a 10 month old blenheim and i just want to tell the person who was anonymus and said that their health problems go on forever. My cavalier is 10 months old and the last time i got him checked( about 2 weeks ago) there was nothing wrong with him, but i read that they are prone to heart problems and that they can get overweight easily. Hope this helped
