Training and intelligence
Cocker Spaniels are not the most intelligent dogs, but they make up for this in enthusiasm and wanting to please.
Temperament
Cocker Spaniels love their families, especially children, in fact they love everyone. These are happy, affectionate dogs whose tails virtually always wag.
Attitude towards strange dogs and people
Everyone is a friend to a Cocker Spaniel, and they want to greet them warmly. Some may have a tendency to shyness, which good socialisation will help.
Grooming and shedding
Cocker Spaniels are medium shedders, their coat will grow very long, but can be clipped short for easier maintenance.
Exercise
They like lots of exercise. Cocker Spaniels are the smallest of the gun dogs so they have plenty of exercise and stamina.
Need for company
Cocker Spaniels like to be with their people best, but will tolerate being left for short periods.
General
Cocker Spaniels can be difficult to housebreak, and some love to bark just because they enjoy it; persevering with training will help with either of these problems. One of the worst problems with this breed is that popularity has lead to some doubtful breeding - make sure you get your dog from a reliable breeder.

you are so so so lucky! i am
you are so so so lucky! i am desperate for a pup, though it ll probs be an english cocker spaniel. do your dogs have there tail docked? where did u get them?
I got a American Cocker Spaniel at home. They are the sweetes dog !!
I have 4 American Cockers and ADORE them. I wouldn't have any other breed. They are the sweetest, most lovable dogs. But can also be spoiled. I just cannot resist those big droopy eyes and long floppy ears. Melt you everytime.
Last year I adopted a black male American Cocker Spaniel from the local pound. He had been found wandering and his owner hadn't claimed him. Since he was about 10 at the time, I couldn't understand this. He wasn't mistreated, though. He loves everything and everybody and isn't afraid of anything. Cannot imagine life without him now. What a sweetie he is!
I adore cockers! I had two, but one was hit a few years ago. Very upsetting. I still have one who just loves meeting everyone. He doesn't like men though. Not sure...
I had my American Cocker Spaniel from when she was a puppy. She was called Sadie. She was a perfect member of our family, my best friend growing up, and she was such a lady! Unfortunately, we had to have her put to sleep earlier this year as she was an old lady and wasn't very well. I miss her so much. The best dog in the world.
Awww I love them their sooo sweet. we're getting a dog soon but from the rescue centre and i doubt they'll be any cocker spaniels coz their quite a bit of money arent they? anyways, i will love whatever dog we get! <3 xx
