Hollyoaks star launches Dogs Trust Waggy Walks

HOLLYOAKS STAR LAUNCHES DOGS TRUST WAGGY WALKS 2010

Gemma Merna and her hounds promote nationwide sponsored event

On Sunday 3rd October 2010 Dogs Trust is holding its annual Waggy Walks; ten simultaneous sponsored walks at locations across the UK. Dog loving actress Gemma Merna (Hollyoaks’ Carmel McQueen) is encouraging the public to register for their nearest event.

Gemma explains:

“I’m thrilled to be supporting Dogs Trust Waggy Walks along with my gorgeous dogs Paige, Cole and Phoebe. Waggy Walks are a brilliant way to get out and about with fellow dog lovers and raise vital money for Dogs Trust. But it doesn’t matter if you own a dog or not, anyone can join in the fun so check out www.waggywalks.org.uk to find your nearest event.”

Anyone can take part: big or small; young or old, four legs or two. And at each scenic site participants can choose between a 5k or 10k walk. Now in their second year Waggy Walks raise vital funds for Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity.

Waggy Walks are taking place at the following locations with a starting time of 11am:

Brighton Stanmer Park

Coventry Coventry War Memorial Park

Glasgow Tollcross Park

Leeds Temple Newsam Estate

London Finsbury Park

Merseyside Sherdley Park

Salisbury Old Sarum Castle

Stockton-on-Tees Wynyard Woodland Park

Swansea Margam Country Park

Waggy Walkers can take part as a group, with their canine companions or even bring along a stuffed furry friend. The charity hopes people will enjoy keeping fit with their friends and family whilst helping raise vital funds for rescue dogs at the same time.
